How the "West Was
Fun" Reading Month Activities

Yeehaw,
pardners, git along the reading trail! Read at
home and remember to bring your signed reading
slips back to class every Friday. Help your
class earn clues about the Machias horse thief.
Sheriff Schilaty needs the help of our reading
deputies to identify the thievin' culprit! Read
to reach your class reading goal each week!
Author
visit for Reading Month
On Monday,
October 13, author Deborah Hopkinson will visit
Machias. She will present four assemblies
throughout the day for our students, discussing
writing historical fiction books. Parents are
welcome to join an assembly to learn more about
how this author researches and creates her
stories. Thanks to the Machias PTG for helping
fund this author event!
Wild
West Dress-Up Day
After seeing the
Sheriff and all the Machias suspects dressed in
western gear, the student deputies are itchin'
for their chance to dress up in their finest
western duds. Friday, October 24 is the day!
Check with your teacher to see if your class
will be saddlin' up for a day of dress-up fun on
the 24th.
